River Ink: Woodblock Illustrations

River Ink: Woodblock Illustrations features the woodblock engraving illustrations from three river-themed books: A River Runs Through It illustrated by Barry Moser, Home Waters, illustrated by Wesley Bates, and Big Two-Hearted River: The Centennial Edition, illustrated by Chris Wormell.  The show will be on display from July 28th, 2023 through August 19th, 2023, and the opening reception will take place on Friday, July 28th from 5 to 8 pm.

Ex Libris Exhibit

Ex Libris (Latin for ‘from the library of’) is an exhibition of bookplate art. Bookplates connect a personal library collection, designate ownership of journals, notebooks, and assist lent books in being returned to their rightful owner. The opening reception will take place Friday, September 22nd from 5 to 8 pm.

Wheatgrass will host Brad Orsted, author of “Through The Wilderness”, and Maggie Anderson, author of “Between Rock and A Hard Place”, for a reading, signing, and conversation on Thursday, September 28th at 7 PM. 

2nd Annual Banned Books Reading & Celebration

Local community members made up of a variety of ages and professions will gather together at Wheatgrass Books on Saturday October 7th at 4 PM to read short passages from a favorite banned book. Join us to celebrate the stories and voices that are being threatened. The event will be emceed by local writer Stacy Peterson and readers include Anajbella Woodson, Jamie Stephens, Fiona Shinn, Nancy Puckett, Laurie Bishop, Melissa Nootz, Lisa Sukut, Melissa Ragain, Lisa Mcnamee, Hannah Woodson, Jan Strout, and Jennifer Bisbing.

Arán & Im by Manchán Magan (2 pm performance)

Arán & Im is a theatrical performance in which Manchán Magan bakes sourdough bread for 70 minutes while offering insights into the wonders of the Irish language – exploring potent words of landscape, terms of intuition and insight, and the many phrases that bring to life the mysterious glory of our natural world. Thanks to some very generous supporters, we’ll have two free to the public performances of Arán & Im (Bread & Butter) at Wheatgrass on Saturday, October 14th at 2 PM & at 5 PM.
