  • Holiday Stroll with Todd Goddard & Santa

    Join us Friday, December 5th for the Holiday Stroll! Local author Todd Goddard will be at Wheatgrass Books from 5 pm to 8 pm signing copies of Devouring Time: Jim Harrison, A Writer’s Life—the first and only literary biography of the beloved author whose playful, irreverent, and deeply spiritual work continues to inspire and delight new generations of readers. Plus, Santa stops by at 6 pm for a cozy storytime and photo op—bring the kids (or your inner child) and celebrate the season with us!

  • Poetry Writing Workshop & Reading with Maggie Dewane

    Wheatgrass Books is pleased to welcome author, poet, and filmmaker Maggie Dewane for a poetry reading and nature-inspired haiku writing workshop on Saturday, February 7th at 3:00 p.m. The event will feature a reading from Dewane’s new book, Haiku and Hope: 50 States of Climate Change, followed by an interactive workshop designed to introduce participants to the art of nature journaling and haiku.

  • Tambourine Decorating Party

    Let’s make some joyful noise for democracy! Join us at Wheatgrass Books on Saturday March 21 from 1-3 pm to decorate your own tambourine in preparation for the Saturday, March 28 No-Kings March—add color, rhythm, and a little extra music to the celebration. All are welcome. Cost is $5 to cover materials.

    Wheatgrass Books invites the community to celebrate the opening of National Poetry Month with a special two-part evening on Thursday, April 2, 2026, featuring the opening reception for The Lost Words Poetry and Art Collaboration followed by a dynamic poetry and music program. The evening begins at 5:30 PM with a reception marking the opening of The Lost Words Poetry and Art Collaboration, an exhibition of original collaborative works inspired by The Lost Words by Robert Macfarlane.

  • Poetry in the Round Celebration

    Wheatgrass Books invites the community to celebrate the opening of National Poetry Month with a special two-part evening on Thursday, April 2, 2026, featuring the opening reception for The Lost Words Poetry and Art Collaboration followed by a dynamic poetry and music program. At 7:00 PM, the celebration continues with an evening of voice, verse, and music, officially launching National Poetry Month at Wheatgrass Books. This round-style program features readings by poets Gabe Furshong, Melissa Kwasny, and Montana Poet Laureate, Allen Morris Jones. The readings will be interwoven with original songs by Aaron Parrett, creating a lively, conversational flow between poetry and music.
