Illuminated ABCs

Green Door Gallery invites 26 artists to choose one of the 26 letters of the alphabet and create a historiated or inhabited rendition of that letter.

Entry

All professional artists are welcome to participate.

Dates

Deadline for choosing an available letter of the alphabet, August 30^th,  2020.

Deadline for submission of all paperwork: September 30, 2020

Deadline for submission of 300 dpi image of your work of art: November 1, 2020

Drop off of artwork: November 10, 2020.

Artwork Size, Medium, Originality

2-dimensional work on a canvas (8×10 canvas panels  will be  supplied by Green Door Gallery)

Artwork must be original.

Framing and Hanging

No frames, please.

Insurance

It is the responsibility of the artist to provide insurance for their artwork.

Shipping

It is the responsibility of the artist to handle any needed shipping costs.

Sales

All artwork will be for sale through Green Door Gallery. Green Door Gallery does a 65/35 split of net sales. Any artwork commissioned as a result of the exhibit / during the exhibit will be a 70/30 split.

Historiated Initial:

An enlarged letter containing an identifiable scene or figures, sometimes relating to the text.

Inhabited Initial:

An enlarged letter at the beginning of a chapter, paragraph, or important section of a text that contains human or animal figures but not an identifiable narrative scene (which is a historiated initial.) 

The Exhibition will open for the Holiday Art Walk the Thursday before Thanksgiving, November 19^th and run through the holidays. If life allows, a reception will be held November 19^th, 5-8 pm.
